Trump Blocks Elon Musk from Attending Secret Pentagon Briefing on China
Washington, D.C. — April 18, 2025 — U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly intervened to prevent Elon Musk from attending a top-secret national security briefing focused on China, according to a report by Axios.
The classified meeting, which took place on March 21 at the Pentagon, was meant to provide select individuals with insight into U.S. military contingency plans in the event of a potential conflict with China. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was slated to lead the session and share sensitive intelligence.

However, sources close to the situation say Trump abruptly stepped in to block Musk’s participation.
“What on earth is Elon doing there? Make sure he doesn’t attend that briefing,” Trump reportedly told his staff.
Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, was ultimately denied entry just before the meeting began.
A senior administration official, speaking anonymously to Axios, explained the rationale behind Trump’s decision:
“The president is still very fond of Elon, but boundaries must be set. Elon does a lot of business in China and maintains good relations there. This briefing was simply not the right call.”
Musk’s exclusion underscores the delicate balance between national security interests and the global business ties of influential U.S. tech leaders. While Musk has long maintained strong relationships with U.S. defense and space programs, his deep involvement in China has raised eyebrows within intelligence circles.
Neither Musk nor the White House has publicly commented on the incident at the time of this report.
