Nnewichi, Nnewi, Anambra State — In a harrowing incident that has left the community of Nnewichi in deep shock, three siblings were found murdered and hidden inside a deep freezer in their family home. The victims have been identified as Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (9), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Ejezie Chimdilim David (5).
The tragic event unfolded on Saturday, February 1, when their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, who is reportedly both a lecturer and a nurse, returned home after taking an examination. Upon arrival, she noticed the front door of their bungalow wide open, an unusual sight as her children were always careful to lock the doors whenever they stepped out.

Concerned by the open door and the eerie silence, Mrs. Ejezie searched the house but found no sign of her children. In a desperate attempt to locate them, she, along with neighbors and church members, launched a frantic search, even visiting the church where the children served as altar boys and girls. Their search, however, proved fruitless until she made the horrifying discovery—her children’s lifeless bodies stuffed inside the family’s deep freezer.
Their father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who resides in Irrua, Edo State, rushed to Nnewichi upon receiving the devastating news. “When my wife got home, she didn’t see the children. She and others searched everywhere. In despair, they opened the deep freezer and found the dead bodies of our kids,” he recounted, visibly devastated.
Evidence at the crime scene suggests that the children were ambushed while eating, as plates of food were found abandoned, hinting at a sudden and violent intrusion. The family shares the bungalow with two tenants and a landlord, raising concerns about how the assailants gained access unnoticed.
The bodies have been deposited at a local morgue, and the matter has been officially reported to the Central Police Station (CPS) Nnewi. An investigation is currently underway. Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, stating, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered a full investigation. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough probe. More details will be shared as the investigation progresses.”
This heart-wrenching incident comes barely a month after another tragic case where three young siblings were found dead inside a parked car in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State. In that case, the children, aged between two and six, were discovered with bound mouths and signs of foul play, further deepening concerns about child safety in the region.
Residents of Nnewichi are demanding swift justice, urging the authorities to leave no stone unturned in identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators behind this gruesome crime. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the irreplaceable loss of these innocent lives.
